At your initial consultation, we will discuss exactly what you need and evaluate what treatment plans are right for you.
Once we figure out if treatment is suitable, our goal is to educate you step by step on exactly what is included in your customized treatment plan. Dr. Bullock will then answer any questions that you may have.
When we have confirmed that treatment is right for you, Dr. Bullock will then cement the brackets and install the wire directly onto your teeth.
You will be required to visit us regularly in order for us to adjust your braces and monitor your treatment plan!
Once your treatment plan is over, Dr. Bullock will take off your brackets and wire and show you how much your smile has truly changed.
He will also whiten your teeth for FREE so that you can be proud of your brand new smile!
Braces are an Orthodontic treatment used to correct crooked/crowded teeth.
There are times in which your teeth may be straight, but your upper and lower jaws may not align properly. These alignment problems may be something genetically passed down or could be a result from an incident such as an injury, early or late tooth loss, or thumb-sucking.
If you have an abnormal bite, Dr. Bullock could recommend braces in order to help deal with the issues. Correcting the problem can create a nice-looking smile, but more importantly, orthodontic treatment using braces at Parkway Smiles can result in an overall healthier mouth and a healthier life!
Not fixing your abnormal bite could result in further oral health problems, including:
Traditional braces can realign your teeth by applying constant pressure. Braces consist of small brackets cemented to your teeth, and connected by a wire, which is periodically tightened by Dr. Bullock so that he can gradually help shift your jaw and teeth into the desired place. The brackets may be metal or tooth coloured and usually stay on your teeth over the course of the entire treatment plan until your teeth are fully aligned.
Most of the time, abnormal bites become noticeable between the ages of 6 and 12, that’s why we usually recommend that patients complete their treatment between the ages 8 and 14!
Misaligned teeth can lead to a variety of different healthy issues that you may not have even considered. Airway issues, premature wear, tooth loss, and periodontal (gum) disease are just some of the negative causes.
Properly aligned teeth reduce the risk of tooth chipping, breaking, and wear, which could cause pain and lead to expensive procedures in the future to save your teeth. Proper alignment can also help reduce stress on the jawbone and lessen some of the symptoms of TMJ.

The Canadian Dental Association recommends every child have an orthodontic assessment no later than age 7. That’s because not all orthodontic problems can be treated if we were to wait for all adult teeth to be present. Waiting on treatment can lead to a less than ideal result. Certain orthodontic problems are best treated when children have a combination of adult and baby teeth.
We want to make sure you have a good idea of your orthodontic condition is and what your treatment options. In an orthodontic consultation, you will get an opportunity to tour the office, meet the doctor and the team. The doctor will look at your mouth and assess the complexity of your treatment and review what treatment options are available to you. Together, we will discuss any concerns you may have with your orthodontic treatment.
