Dental Implant

Dental Implants

A dental implant is the most effective and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Unlike other solutions, implants do not affect any of your other existing teeth, as they are made to fit perfectly into the space available.

How Do They Work?

Dental implants are made up of two key components which work together to form strong and durable replacement teeth. The first component consists of a small titanium post which is surgically implanted into the jawbone. The post then acts as a tooth root substitute, to which a new synthetic tooth is then permanently fixed to.

Can’t I Just Leave the Gap?

Tooth loss can cause immediate problems with eating, speech, and other basic activities that may worsen with time.

When you lose teeth, it disturbs the interplay between teeth and bone. Gum and bone are no longer stimulated well enough due to the missing teeth. Which means the jaw bone starts shrinking and your gum pulls back. As shown in the image below, this can weaken neighbouring teeth until they collapse or begin to move into the gap.

Missing teeth can also lead to significant changes in the structure of your jaw bone, which can lead to unpleasant visual changes to your face. People sometimes don’t realize just how much your teeth can effect the way your face looks. Below you will be able to see a depicted
